Northshore Church is lead by our senior pastor, Dr. Larry McEwen. Larry is a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership. Larry has over twenty years of ministry experience. He has been a pastor, evangelist, youth minister, and counselor. He has been involved in numerous mission trips here in the United States as well as in the country of Haiti. He has just released his third contemporary Christian music album entitled, Make Up Your Mind. However, his trademark is his love for people. Genuine Love is not only the title of his first album, but the desire of his heart. "Jesus gave His life so that we could have life, and I want to share this good news with all who will listen."

Larry greatest strength is found in his loving wife, Debbie McEwen. Larry and Debbie have been married for over twenty years and have three children, Derek, Jessica, and Leah.

Jay Victory, Associate Pastor/Administrator
Jay has a Master of Divinity in the area of missions and ministry. The words missions and ministry describe Jay's daily life. He lives what he believes! At present, Jay is working full-time to help Northshore Church get back into a worship facility of its own so we can fulfill our call to missions and ministry. Jay brings a vital blend of faith and wise stewardship to our team.

Dr. Jeff Nave, Associate Pastor/Counselor
Dr. Nave, or just “Jeff” to us, is a professor at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary who brings over 15 years of ministry experience and 10 years of experience in the field of professional counseling to the Pastoral Care and Counseling Ministry at Northshore Church. He strives daily to help others realize more fully and celebrate the depth of love that God has for each and every one of us.

Jason Palmer, Minister of Pastoral Care
Jason is a full-time Master of Divinity student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a U.S. Army Chaplain Candidate with over nine years of active duty military experience. He is passionate about meeting needs and seeing lives changed through the hope Christ brings. These passions contribute to Jason’s long time involvement in international missions with focus on Central America and the Caribbean. His gifts of leadership, teaching, and administration are a great complement to the Northshore team.

Luis Socarras , Pastor to Families of Youth

Luis Socarras is a man of faith with a strong desire for missions and evangelism. He provides overall leadership and pastoral ministry to our youth, as well as their families. Luis presents the gospel to the youth in ways in which they can relate. His ministry is highly motivational, and offers opportunities for personal and spiritual development. His methods are enthusiastically endorsed by parents!

Luis and his wife Darla are not afraid of the dark . . . not afraid to step out where they cannot see. They invest in the students’ lives outside the church and in youth meetings! We are blessed to have a man with such passion for our youth of today, with the education, knowledge, and years of experience that Luis has already achieved.

Bobo Newton, Minister of Education

Listening to the sermon in corporate worship is not always enough to gain true growth. Discipleship needs to happen on the personal level with fellow believers in small groups. We are so fortunate to have Bobo on our team to provide the pivotal leadership in coordinating programs to enhance personal, spiritual development. Bobo is always strategizing for the most effective ways that would best fit the Northshore Church profile, and the needs of our church family. He is currently a NOBTS student, serving NSC through BAGNO (Baptist Association of Greater New Orleans) with the “Unlimited Partnership” program. We are so privileged he shares his gifts of administration and education with us!

Darla Nave, Children's Director

As Children’s Director, one of Darla's top priorities is making sure that our children are accounted for, safe, and secure! As a mother of three she understands the importance of safety first. Darla, in close partnership with the leadership of NSC, works hard to ensure that the children grow in their knowledge, and love for the Lord in an exciting environment. She provides oversight, training, vision, and overall direction for the children ages birth through 5th grade. Darla is highly motivated with strong organizational and administrative skills. Her past experience as a science teacher, soccer coach, and home school Mom, shine through with her energy, creativity, and sincere faith. Darla ministers to not only the children but to their parents as well. She is an essential part and a welcome addition to our team!

Julie Smith, Ministry Assistant
Julie has worked as a church secretary for several years and does her best at meeting the needs of the staff as well as the church family. Her husband, Reggie, is a recent graduate of the DMin program at NOBTS, and is pastor to Northside Baptist Church in Slidell. Julie is involved as part of the Northshore Admin team and does her very best to keep the staff in line!
